Integrated M.Tech –Ph.D Course in Hyderabad University – Eligibility and Admission Process


The Hyderabad University offers integrated M.Tech –Ph.D programme in two subjects, in Materials Engineering and Nano Science & Technology. BE/B.Tech/ AMIE/M.Sc holders in specific subjects with minimum of 60% marks are eligible for admission. Admission process for eligible candidates is done on the basis of written test and interview. The written test is asked for 75 marks and the interview is conducted for 25 marks.
Eligibility Criteria for integrated M.Tech –Ph.D in Materials Engineering / NanoScience & Technology
The eligibility criteria mentioned for integrated M.Tech –Ph.D in Materials Engineering and Nano Science & Technology are same. Engineering graduates and AMIE holders are eligible to pursue any of these courses. BE/B.Tech degree should be obtained in any of the following subjects.
  • Ceramic Engineering/Technology
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Engineering Physics
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Materials Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgy
  • Polymer Engineering/Technology
  • Production Engineering
Candidates with AMIE should have obtained the qualification in any of the following streams.
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Materials & Metallurgical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Production Engineering
Such candidates should hold B.Sc degree in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or diploma in any of the following subjects.
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Production Engineering
B.Sc/Diploma holders in any of the above mentioned subjects along with AMIIM or master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science are also eligible to apply. Candidates should hold a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
Admission Process for integrated M.Tech –Ph.D in Materials Engineering / NanoScience & Technology
The admission process for eligible candidates is done on the basis of written test and interview. The written test is asked for 75 marks and interview for 25 marks. There will be objective model questions for the written test covering questions the following subjects.
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
Basic knowledge of the candidate in numerical ability and computational methods are also evaluated through the written test. Apart from these topics, candidates should expect questions from subject related topics. Those who are seeking admission to integrated M.Tech –Ph.D in Materials Engineering are asked with questions related to topics covered under B.E/B.Tech in Materials Science & Technology. In case of candidates seeking admission to integrated M.Tech –Ph.D in Nano Science & Technology, the written test also includes questions from B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc in Nano Science and Technology.
Those who qualify the written test are short listed for interview. Subject related questions are mainly asked for interview. Selected candidates at both the stages of selection process are subjected for certificate verification process. Original certificates of the candidate are checked for confirmation of eligibility.
